My journey

Doing it again, in the open

I've used this method before and I know what it did for me then. Now I'm restarting, and I'm sharing honest updates here as they happen, the good and the not-so-good.

Update 1: October 2026

Where I'm starting from

I'm restarting once again. I'm 57 now, and starting to feel it.

My wife and I have split up. The culture clash was taking its toll. But she and the girls are only five minutes away, and we're getting on better now than we ever did. So I'm single again, and I'm still working offshore, though I'm hoping to stop that one day soon. My job can be very physical, so now I'm thinking about retirement… a lot!

What I long for now is peace, retirement and a small home in the country, God willing.

My affirmations

They're the same two I've always used, one for success and one for health. These are all I've ever needed. I only ever work on one of them on any night, never both, and I stay with it for at least a week, often longer, before I switch to the other:

"Hour by hour and day by day, I'm more successful in every way."As I drift off, I hear the tick-tock saying "I'm getting more successful."
"Every minute of every hour of every day, I'm getting well in every way."As I drift off, I hear the tick-tock saying "I'm getting better and better."

Why those two? Because they work for me!

I'm a very laid-back kind of person, so I don't have one for calming down. I'm usually quite calm.

My setup

These days it's a free metronome-style app on my phone rather than the ticking alarm clock I started with. It's handy because I do a lot of travelling with my job. When I'm sharing a cabin, I pop in my sleep earbuds and listen to my chosen affirmation on repeat. When I can, I say it out loud, because for me that's when they're at their most powerful.

What I expect for the future

I've spent the whole guide telling you not to trust anyone who makes big promises, and I'm not going to start making them now. So this isn't a prediction. It's simply how I feel.

Great things are coming. I just know…
